Reclaiming Momentum: My Journey as Director
It had first been reported that the Media Studies students were divided into two teams, with Sabari and I in one team and Sai Sahanaa and Akhilesh in the other. I hoped to regain momentum and restore the original pace of our pre-production process; however, I had taken a long break in between and had fallen slightly behind. Later, schedules changed, and we were reassigned into a single team, sharing duties and responsibilities equally and contributing to every aspect of the production.
To begin with, I continued in the same role I undertook during my AS Level project—Director. However, this time my responsibilities extended further, as I was in charge of developing the narrative script, drafting and sketching the shot list, and visualising how each scene should be portrayed and performed. I oversaw the creative direction of the project, ensuring that the storytelling, framing, and performances aligned with our intended vision.
One aspect that reassured me was that, despite each team member having significant responsibilities within their respective roles, we were still able to support one another when needed. This collaborative dynamic made the workload more manageable and strengthened our overall production process.
Overall, the shift in team structure and responsibilities allowed me to grow both creatively and organizationally. Although I initially struggled to maintain momentum due to my break, working as part of a unified team helped me regain focus and restore the pace of our pre-production. Taking on the role of director once again—with expanded responsibilities—strengthened my confidence in leadership and creative decision-making. More importantly, the collaborative nature of our group reinforced the value of communication, adaptability, and shared commitment in producing a cohesive and effective media product.
