Target Audience Profile
The audience that the film can target is very narrow and specific, which will enable conveying the narrative and the themes in a more effective and significant manner. I have not been targeting a wide or general audience but a group that is most likely to relate directly to the issues raised.
Target age group:
My main target group includes students of school whose ages are 16-18 years old. This age group is especially important because it is an age group whereby a person is highly subjected to academic demands and outside pressure. Students in this bracket tend to be either on the brink of or going through major exams, and they are therefore more susceptible to stress, insecurity, and also the fear of failing. Therefore, the themes discussed in my movie can be quite applicable to their daily experiences.
Gender focus:
The movie is geared particularly towards young boy students and how society is applying more and more pressure on the boys to perform well in school and to meet certain specifications of success. As a general assumption, they are expected to do a good job without showing vulnerability, and this may contribute to internal conflict. This emphasis gives the film the opportunity to discuss the ways in which one may be scared of failure or the pressure to perform as per expectations and, hence, avoid or fail to put forth effort or become detached as long as one feels that he or she has already been labeled or judged because of his or her abilities.
Themes and appeal to the audience:
The main issues of the movie are academic stress, the fear of failure, and the consequences of labeling. These concerns are particularly crucial among the target population, yet students are often characterized by grades, expectations on the part of the teachers, and the comparison with peers. The student can be labeled as being a high-achiever or underperforming, which may have a very strong effect on the student's mindset and behavior. This may become a vicious circle since they are too afraid to give their full potential because they are too scared of not living up to their expectations, thereby perpetuating those labels. Writing about these themes, the movie tries to bring a sense of recognition and reflections to the audience.
Platforms we would use:
The target market is the one that uses digital and social media applications (YouTube and Instagram) as a focus of their daily activities. These sites are well utilized in entertainment and communication as well as self-expression. The film should be distributed and promoted by these channels because it would reach its target audience more efficiently since it is not a foreign source of media. Also, the speed and visual appeal of the social media content are factors that affect how such an audience will respond to the media, and this has been taken into account in the style and presentation of the film.
